Future Challenge
6.1 Expanding World Population
Half of the population growth is in 6 countries:
- India
- China
- Pakistan
- Nigeria
- Bangladesh
- Indonesia
"There are many who believe challenges surrounding world population growth have implications which touch almost all of the other future challenges we face."
6.2 Pollution
Air pollution
http://www.who.int/airpollution/en/
Air pollution kills an estimated seven million people worldwide every year. WHO data shows that 9 out of 10 people breathe air that exceeds WHO guideline limits containing high levels of pollutants, with low- and middle-income countries suffering from the highest exposures. WHO is supporting countries to address air pollution.

Causes of air pollution:
Use of Fossil Fuels
- Sulfur dioxide → combustion of coal & petroleum
- Carbon Monooxide → incomplete combustion from vehicles
- Nitrogen Oxides→ natural and man made processes.
Agricultural activities:
- ammonia
- insecticides
- pesticides
- fertilizers
